The threat was reported at Tufts' Medford/Somerville campus around 9 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 15, according to Tufts Police

The threat was targeted towards the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, Department of Philosophy, Department of Mathematics, East Hall and Anderson Hall, police said.

Students and staff were being told to evacuate those buildings and take all their belongings with them. They were also being told to avoid the area and instructed to shelter in place at the Gantcher Center.

A search of the targeted buildings was underway while the rest of Tufts' campus was open, police said. That search eventually came up negative.

This comes just one day after the university received a false bomb threat on Wednesday. That threat was reportedly made via email targeting the university's diversity department which read:

Your university promotes degeneracy which is destroying our society, namely the anti white racism. Racism is evil, regardless of which race it targets. Courses like yours fuels more hatred and division in our country and we are tired of it. We are all equal, regardless of race gender sexuality religion or whatever, and we are sick of these identity politics.

Following this second threat, Tufts' School of Arts & Sciences and the School of Engineering postponed their finals exams until further notice. Starting Friday all exams will move to an online format, the university announced online

"For students who wish to remain on campus to accommodate their travel arrangements, you are welcome to do so," Tufts wrote. "Campus operations remain as normal. You may contact the Dean of Student Affairs with questions."

Mental health resources were also available to students at several departments. Students can also reach out to the Counselor-on-Call available 24/7 by calling 617-627-3360.
